A UNIX-like operating system is one which UNIX geeks will find familiar, being structured in broadly the same way and running broadly the same set of commands and software packages.

Examples of UNIX-like OSes:

• Linux
• The Berkeley Standard Distribution (BSD), including:
  • FreeBSD
  • NetBSD
  • OpenBSD
• Minix
