What do I need?
- A copy of Quake3 - technically you only need the Pak0.pk3 file from it (it's the big one)
- The Quake3 Linux installer - you can get the latest version from id (ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/quake3/linux/linuxq3apoint-1.32.x86.run) (that's the link to the latest one at the time of writing)
[edit]
How can I do it?
It's really nice and easy to install.
- Become the root user at the console
su
- Run the installer
./linuxq3apoint-1.32.x86.run
or
sh linuxq3apoint-1.32.x86.run
Once installed, copy the pak0.pk3 file into the quake3 directory normally /usr/local/games/quake3
That's it - type quake3 at the command prompt as a normal user and kick ass!!
[edit]
I've chuffed this up somewhere!
Everything has some issues; Quake 3 is no different. The best resource for sorting everything out is here (http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/q3a/)
