The 68HC11 is a MicroComputer chip manufactured by [Motorola (http://www.motorola.com/)].

It is best programmed using Assembly Language.

A microcomputer chip differs from a microprocessor chip in the sense that it is literally a computer on a chip, containing not only a processor but ROM, RAM and possibly EEPROM aswell, all things which would normally be stored externally on a motherboard for a processor chip. Today the most common usage for such chips is as controllers for TV sets, washing machines, and other household electrical goods.
