Linux Computer hostname reading problem

Postby Bilb » Fri Jun 24, 2005 9:21 am

Hi,

Basically the problem is that I have a user when he logs in finger, w or who shows his computer as an old computer from a while back.

ie
Code: Select all
Login     Name                 Tty      Idle  Login Time   Office     Office Phone
jbl        Joe Bloggs         pts/7    1:28  Jun 24 08:47 (comp000)

Where dd login is actually at the computer named comp999

The comp000 was on a different IP totally and has been removed DNS, WINS and Active Directory. I have also wiped the utmp & wtmp on the server.

The users computer has no reference to comp000 either.

anyone got any ideas?

Hope this helps,

Nigel.
