hey there guys, got a problem which I HAVE tried to research myself but no luck, i have a dell inspiron 1300 laptop, which works great with most distro's, but there is one major gripe with them all......the external and useless winmodem does'nt work! so i have to get an external modem, but again i have a problem, my machine has no ports other then USB so what do i do, from what i've been told there seems to only be compatibility in linux with serial modems! please help!!!! dont make me suffer the horror's of xp for internet usage any more!!!!!

Use a serial modem with a USB to serial converter. Search the forums, there was a thread on this a few days ago.
