Graphic card recomendation please

Postby JohnA1954 » Wed Sep 24, 2014 3:15 pm

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a suitable graphic card. It must be capable of 10bit/ch (or greater) colour depth. I am NOT using it for gaming but for graphics work and my monitor is 10bit/ch and presumably not being driven to its full potential. AMD, Nvidia or ATI (is this not AMD now?)
I currently use a 6 core AMD processor with 8Gb RAM and run Debian Wheezy.
Thank you in advance for your help.

It would depend on whether you use the propitiatory drivers or the open-source ones  but I have found that nVidia's drivers to be less buggy than AMD's ATM that may change in the future but for your use I would recommend nVidia and if you use blender you get CUDA support for rendering.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Hi lok1950,
thank you for the information.
I currently use a nVidia card without any problems so I will happily take your advice and upgrade to a 10bit colour depth card.
