no './configure' file

Postby Narendra » Tue Jan 07, 2014 8:21 pm

Hello,
I am trying to compile programmes from Source Code and so far I have built 2 programmes only.
But the next three programmes I can not because it says there is no './configure' file and I can not find any 'readme' or installation information.
The programmes I am trying to build are Nightingale, Flightgear and the Compozer. I can get them with Deb. but wish to build them.

I have tried 'alien' but the deb files created are faulty. They install but do not show up.

Please advise.

Add the deb-src sources to your sources.list, then you can install the source code packages of all programs.

I've just downloaded and unpacked the flightgear 2.12.1 source code and there is an INSTALL file there. Flightgear uses CMake, as detailed in that file, so there is no configure script.

The INSTALL file also points to a wiki page on building Flightgear from source.

Lots of cross-platform projects use CMAKE now we at vegastrike dropped maketools last year.CMAKE lists are so much easier to maintain :)

Enjoy the Choice :)
