Installing from DVD

Postby cbuffer » Mon Dec 02, 2013 2:18 pm

The latest DVD with LXF178 has two Hotpicks that would be perfect for a voluntary job I do - fgallery and cropgui. Neither of them have advice on how to install that I can see. Could someone offer me guidance please?

TIA

For CropGUI, unpack the archive and run the install script

Code: Select all
tar xf /media/LXFDVD178/HotPicks/CropGUI/cropgui_0.1.1.tar.gz
cd cropgui
./install.sh

Fgallery is ready to run

Code: Select all
unzip /media/LXFDVD178/HotPicks/Fgallery/fgallery-1.0.zip
cd fgallery-1.0
less README.rst
./fgallery --help

Thank you nelz, you always seem to solve my problems!

I was messing about with "make" etc. where is the clue to the "./" approach?

The file fgallery has the executable bit set, and file reports it to be an executable binary. That plus the absence of a Makefile, INSTALL or README or any of the other files you'd normally find in an autotools source package.
