Flashing the firmware on Hard Drives - the linux way

Postby maxeaves » Wed Apr 28, 2010 11:32 am

Hi there,

I have a couple of new harddrives that desperately need a firmware update. They are Western Digital 2TB RE4-GP drives SATA units. Is there a linux tool that I can use to flash the firmware on the drives when it arrives?

Thanks

I tend to use freedos and copy the official dos based exe to it and run it from a booted usb stick.

However, where are you getting the firmware from?
