There is an error in your article on page 33. The openSUSE live CD does NOT need 1GB of RAM. I have a six year old Athlon XP machine with 512 MB RAM of which some is used for graphics. I downloaded the 11.2 RC2 32 bit KDE live CD. The live CD ran well and I later installed from the live CD and had no trouble at all doing so.

It isn't an error in that the message is now part of the 11.2 installer but it is misleading.
I got a Live CD to install, albeit with difficulty, on a machine with 256Mb of RAM after it asked if it could use the swap partition.
I've increased the RAM to 768Mb and more recent Live CDs have installed fine.
I suspect the 1Gb warning is more for those who want to use the Live CD for more than a few minutes to check that it will install.
