I have recently installed a dual boot on a Dell latitude D600.
If you have the Iso on the the system, you can use the Boot.img file to mount this ISO and install Fedora Core with out putting it on a DVD first. I did it, it was pretty straight forward. Make sure that windows is the C: partition.

Hi,

I have a XP Home on a toshiba machine. I wanted to install Fedora Linux along with XP home. Do I need to partition my harddisk first and then do the installation of Linux?

I did not do the partition and went to Install Linux. It did not allow me to Install saying that It was unable to Install the boot dir. I tried both Automatic partioning as well as manual.

Can anyone help please. You can reach me at anandrangan@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Anand

How do you find your XP/Fedora combination?

My friend says laptops aren't good for dual boots of this sort, except if it's an IBM, due to IBM's support of the GNU/Linux OS.
