PHP book recommendations (esp. with MySQL)

Postby daudi » Fri Dec 22, 2006 12:11 pm

Hi,

I am going to need to create a number of data entry "systems/applications" for different needs using PHP and MySQL. I am quite familiar with MySQL but need to learn PHP. I have seen Paul's book online http://hudzilla.org/phpwiki and a recommendation for "PHP and MySQL Web Development" by Luke Welling and Laura Thomson.

Does anyone recommend any other book? I know there are lots of online resources, but I've got this thing for the sound of falling trees :0

Thanks.

The Open University were using one called PHP fast&easy web development, Julie C Meloni, Premier Press.

Not the most brilliant book I've ever used, but not bad. It focuses mainly on PHP though.

I found PHP and MySQL web development much more useful, and it is more MySQL focussed. I've got the 3rd edition, which was before PHP5.
