Postby hopelessrobbie » Sat Apr 15, 2006 11:43 pm

I recently bought myself a intel celeron 2.4G with an asrock motherboard,24bit sounblaster sound card and added my ati 9250 graphics adapter. the problem is that every linux distro only boots up to where it says hotpluging usb devices or boots up with a black-blank screen. please help

same problem here.
my motherboard is an asrock p4i45gv.
i can make it work if i plug my monitor into the onboard video, but i can't use my nvidia fx 5200 in the AGI port(the AGP with some changes, i think this is the problem).
i tried ubuntu and it crashes while loading hotplug subsystem(i don't know what this is), same for kubuntu.
is there any solution for this?
thanks in advance.

ok, no help, but I had a problem with an older ECS board, checked the website and there was a bios release to specifically fix linux issues. This was caused by the hardware manufacturer not sticking to some acpi standard.

check the mobo website for any updated bios, if not log the problem with the hardware manufacturer.
I think, therefore I compile

There should be a BIOS setting which tells the machine which display to use - have you tried setting that to AGP?

See this from last year - http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions ... p?t=395857 , something to do with onboard graphics conflicting with your graphics card. Original poster solved it by recompiling his kernel without the onboard graphics module.
