Linux Mint 12 on CD - Is it 32 or 64 bit?

Postby IamBodhi » Sat Jan 28, 2012 11:17 pm

I have successfully installed on my Netbook as a single OS Linux Mint 12 from the recent coverdisk from the Magazine - it runs a 32bit system.

I am about to complete a self build desktop and want to install the Mint 12 64Bit system.

My question is can I do this (install 64bit) from the Coverdisk that had Linux Mint 12 on it or will the disk only install a 32bit system.

My system specs on my self build are as follows:

ASUS M5A78L-M USB 3 Motherboard
- Integrated ADI 3000 Radeon Graphics with VGA
ASUS Royal Knight CPU Cooler
AMD Quad Core Athlon II X4 640, 3000Mhz AM3 CPU
CORSAIR 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz XMS3 Memory CL9 1.5V unbuffered
OCZ 60GB Agility 3 SSD - 2.5" SATA-III - Read 525MB/s Write 475MB/s 80,000 IOPS
WESTERN DIGITAL 2TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s Caviar Green Hard Drive - 64MB Cache
WESTERN DIGITAL 320GB 3.5" SATA Caviar HDD
HITACHI 250GB 2.5" SATA HDD (Put in 3.5" adapter to fit in case)
30in1 Internal Card Reader
Combo DVD Player & Re-writer Internal Drive
2 Port Pci Express Firewire 400 - Card

Thanks in advance

The coverdisk only has the 32 bit version, and you cannot "upgrade" from 32 bit to 64 bit. Your choices are to install 32 bit from the disc or download the 64 bit version.

Hi nelz

Seems you are certainly being kept busy since taking over the mantle from Mike as disc overlord. I've never seen so many postings from you in such a short space of time. I'm surprised you actually manage to produce the DVD each month when you have to keep stopping to answer all these queries!!

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind as an excuse if I miss the deadline for 156. Expect an email from Graham ;-)
